A Space Visit at the CERN School
On Thursday, March 12, the CERN Staff Association School had the pleasure of welcoming a very special guest: an astronaut from the European Space Agency (ESA), Mr. Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski, who came to meet the students during a visit that was as unexpected as it was inspiring.
For nearly an hour and a half, the children had the exceptional opportunity to interact directly with him. Curious and amazed, they asked many questions about life in space, space missions, astronaut training, and even observing Earth from orbit.
Our guest was particularly approachable and attentive to the students. With great simplicity and kindness, he took the time to answer their questions, naturally switching between French and English so that everyone could fully participate in the discussion. His attentiveness and enthusiasm created a truly meaningful moment of dialogue and sharing.
For both the students and the teaching staff, this encounter was rich in discovery and inspiration. Seeing the children’s eyes light up while listening to stories of space exploration is a powerful reminder of how scientific curiosity and imagination can drive learning.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our guest for his generosity and for the time he devoted to the students. This meeting will undoubtedly remain a lasting memory for the entire school community.
We also warmly thank all those who helped make this wonderful surprise possible for the students of the CERN School.
