CERN Relay Race – 54th Edition
The CERN Relay Race will come back for its 54th edition on Thursday May 7th, 2026.
This now legendary race – first edition took place in 1971 – will be organised jointly by the Running club and the Staff Association with the same ingredients present in the past years leading to record numbers in terms of participants in 2025: 183 teams and over 1100 runners / walkers in total. The goal of the 2026 edition is thus clear: let’s beat that record!
The main race will start at 12:15 in front of building 40, closely followed by the walkers and the kid’s race organized with the support of the Jardin des Particules. As every year, Alumni will be part of the event thanks to the online relay race challenge where teams composed of CERN Alumni from across the globe were able to run the CERN relay race distances in their various locations.
We will not forget the social part of the event, with the participation of various CERN clubs and Staff Association partners presenting their activities and the participation of a professional DJ. Last but not least, runners are more than welcome to participate with fancy dresses` and compete for the costume contest.
