The 53rd edition of the CERN relay race took place on the Meyrin site on 14 May, alongside the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Staff Association. A total of 184 teams were at the starting line, a new record!

The now traditional Associations Forum featured 40 stands spread across the lawn near Restaurant 1. Relay race participants, as well as active members of personnel, pensioners and their families, came to take part in this exceptional event. The variety of activities offered by the Clubs under the Staff Association delighted both young and old alike: virtual reality headsets, sports equipment demonstrations and trials, art exhibitions, advice and support for newcomers, observation of the world around us, sharing , such was the rich programme on offer for visitors.

A special mention goes to our pensioners colleagues (GAC-EPA), who joined us specifically for the occasion, and to the children from the Jardin des Particules, whose joy and laughter lit up the grand tombola draw, featuring exceptional prizes generously offered by our partners.

The event unfolded in a joyful and festive atmosphere, with the relay race at its heart. Delicious food was served thanks to the excellent catering by Novae and CERN’s Firefighters Brigade. The afternoon was energized by vibrant live music from DJ Florent, Sambaloelek, The Chillipinos, and Velvet Echo, keeping spirits high throughout. And, as a rare treat, the sun decided to join the celebration too!

This vibrant cultural and sporting celebration was a wonderful reflection of the unity that lies at the heart of the Staff Association. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who took part, with special appreciation for all the helping hands whose dedication over the past months brought this collective effort to life.
